Scholarships help you graduate from FIU with your degree and with little to no debt. Apply to as many scholarships as you can and apply early to increase your chance of being awarded.

Scholarships are offered university-wide

FIU offers online students a number of different scholarship opportunities, including the Bright Futures Scholarship, for eligible Florida high school graduates, the First Generation Scholarship, and institutional programs for academic merit assistance and graduate assistance.

Scholarships have specific criteria and varying deadlines and application requirements. We also encourage all students applying for scholarships to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, so they can be considered for financial aid. FIU Online offers online students a limited number of scholarship opportunities for select degrees. Learn more about eligibility and requirements:

  • FIU Online Corporate and Community Scholarship

    Awards a select number of employees or members of organizations making an impact in communities and industries.

    This scholarship is eligible to students who are:

    • Employees of companies which are partners of FIU Online’s Corporate Education Initiative (http://fiuonline.fiu.edu/corporate)
    • Employees of organizations making an impact in communities and industries
    • Members or participants of professional industry organizations which are partners to FIU Online

    The FIU Online Corporate and Community Scholarship is an award of $2,000, divided and disbursed over the first 3 semesters in equal installments.

    To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be new admitted students for the Fall 2021 semester in any of the below fully online or hybrid programs.

    Scholarship recipient selection is competitive, and students are encouraged to apply early.

    Eligible Fully Online and Hybrid Programs:

    1. Online Master of Science in Engineering Management
    2. Online Master of Science in Computer Engineering: Network Security
    3. Online Master of Science in Hospitality Management
    4. Online or Hybrid Master of Health Services Administration
    5. Online Master of Public Health
    6. Online Master of Science in Higher Education Administration
    7. Online Master of Science in Educational Leadership
    8. Online Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction: Curriculum Development
    9. Online Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction: Elementary Education
    10. Online Master of Science in Special Education: Autism Endorsement

    Eligibility:

    1. Be a fully admitted new student in the above-mentioned programs
    2. Maintain continuous enrollment each semester
    3. Scholarship application must be submitted by the program application deadline
    4. This application is for new students starting their program Fall 2021.
  • FIU Online Academic Merit Scholarship

    Acknowledges a select number of students with strong academic achievements.

    FIU Online has established the Academic Merit Scholarship to award a limited number of students who exhibit strong academic credentials upon admission.

    The FIU Online Academic Merit Scholarship is an award of $2,000, divided and disbursed over the first 3 semesters in equal installments.

    To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be new admitted students for the Fall 2021 semester in any of the below fully online or hybrid programs.

    Scholarship recipient selection is competitive, and students are encouraged to apply early.

  • FIU Online GET STARTED Scholarship

    Supports a limited number of students who may be challenged with hardships due to the impact of COVID-19. Scholarships are available for hospitality professionals who begin in our programs in the August 2021 semester

    To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be new admitted students for the Fall 2021 semester in any of the below fully online or hybrid programs.
    Scholarship is limited and students are encouraged to apply early.

    Eligible Fully Online and Hybrid Programs:

    1. Online Master of Science in Engineering Management
    2. Online Master of Science in Computer Engineering: Network Security
    3. Online Master of Science in Hospitality Management
    4. Online or Hybrid Master of Health Services Administration

  • The FIU Online Distance Learning Scholarship

    Awards a one-time $500 scholarship.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Majors - applicants must be enrolled at FIU as an undergraduate, degree-seeking student with a fully online declared major taking a minimum of 2, 3 credit courses each semester (fall, spring, summer)
    • Part-time Status: student must take a minimum of 2 classes and 6 credits in the fall, spring, and summer (A,B, and C terms combined)
    • GPA: applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at FIU

    Submission Instructions:

    • Written Essay: Applicants must submit a written one-page essay that includes all of the following: (1) detailed explanation of why you are pursuing your degree online, (2) role of education in your life, (3) current FIU Online experience, (4) motivational factors that keep you persisting, and (5) how scholarship will benefit you and your goals. You are free to include additional information at your discretion
    • Resume: Including educational background, work experience, certifications/professional licenses
    • Personal Statement: One-page bio
