All fully online, undergraduate students get a dedicated coach from the time they enroll until they graduate.

Is coaching free?

Yes! Success coaching is one of the main perks of being a fully online student.

What does an FIU Online Success Coach do?

Success Coaches help undergraduate FIU Online students throughout their journey as a fully online student. From adjusting to a new fully online learning experience to navigating hurdles and exploring opportunities, Success Coaches help our students create a plan to work towards their goals while maximizing the resources and services available to them.

How do I find my FIU Online Success Coach?

Fully online students have the ability to look up their designated success coach, view their coach's contact details, and directly submit requests to them by going to canvas.fiu.edu, logging in to their FIU account, and performing a success coach lookup.

Is a Success Coach the same as an advisor or counselor?

Think of a Success Coach as your student experience champion helping you along your journey at FIU Online. A success coach is an added layer of support for our fully online undergraduate students. Their role is to understand what each student wants out of college, and to partner with students to ensure they achieve their goals and nothing preventable gets in the way of graduation.

Your FIU Academic Advisor will answer program-specific questions, such as what courses you should take, student holds, or permissions for closed classes.

What can I expect at my appointment?

Your Success Coach is here for you throughout your student journey so each meeting will be different but guided by your specific needs or concerns. You and your success coach will get the opportunity to:

Get to know each other
Collaborate on goal setting
Figure out what you are looking for out of the student experience
Talk about strategies for success and graduation
Share experiences
Discuss tips and resources for time management, finances, health & support, and beyond

How often should I meet with my success coach?

To get the most out of your student journey, it is recommended you touch base with your coach at least 2-3 times during each semester. However, you and your coach can discuss what works best for you.
