Hey there, I’m Jackie!

I have been working at FIU for over 9 years now (Yes! Almost a decade folks!) and began my role as a Success Coach January 2020. Having served in key roles throughout the university, I’ve gained some valuable tricks of the trade and also a solid grasp on what resources are available to students. My super skill is that I’m easy to talk to for some good conversation and have a knack for developing meaningful relationships. I am a first generation college student and a fellow FIU Online learner, recently completing my Masters in Global Strategic Communication fully online. I understand what it is to balance life, work, and education, so I’m motivated to provide support and guidance to students. Fun random fact: I was 22 years old when I flew for the first time, which may explain why I’m making up for lost time with travel planning and daydreaming. Aside from my Masters degree, I hold a BS in Organizational Communications and a certificate in Conflict Resolution and Consensus building as well as recognized as an FIU Ignite Spark Award and FIU Torch Award recipient for FIU Online. Most importantly, I’m excited to be part of your student journey!

Hi, I’m Janessa!

Being a two-time student at FIU, as well as working here since 2010, I bring over a decade of experience and lots of Panther pride to my role as an FIU Online Success Coach. In all the knowledge that I’ve gained, my specialty is helping students navigate and make sense of all the resources available to them through FIU. I myself struggled as an undergraduate student and I want to be able to provide students with everything that would have helped me run past hurdles, avoid obstacles, and reach that finish line sooner back then. The most rewarding feeling as a coach is knowing that I made a difference in someone’s journey. It’s why I commit myself to being there for my students every step of the way! We are all doing our best to juggle it all and a lot of the time we are unaware of the tools and resources that are out there to lend that helping hand. Coaching extends to my life outside of work, as a cheerleading and dance instructor for the past 19 years, I love to motivate people to be their best selves. I hold an MS and BS in Criminal Justice and a certificate of Academic Impression Customer Services in Higher Education. I believe there is nothing you can’t do and I look forward to helping you prove it!

Hi, I’m Nahum!

Bringing over 10 years of experience in teaching and advising, I started my role as an FIU Online Success Coach in May of 2020. My biggest motivation is anchored in my belief that education can transform people’s lives, which is why I take a keen interest in helping students reach their full potential. Holding a B.A. in Social Psychology, an MPA in Public Administration, graduate certificates in Conflict Resolution and National Security, and currently working on the final stages of my dissertation research for my doctorate in Education and Curriculum and Teaching, I invest my whole being into education. That includes ensuring that I provide students with the best coaching and advice capable of changing their lives. Outside of work and dissertation research, I enjoy reading, exploring new places, and dining out with family and friends. Just like you, I am a life-long learner trying to find a healthy balance between life, work and school. I look forward to hearing more about your aspirations and giving you the tools you need to reach your goals.

Hello, I’m Sara Oramas

Positive psychology suggests that if we believe we can achieve an outcome, it is more likely to occur—believe in yourself and you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve! Along these lines, after four explorative years, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my B.A. in Psychology from the Honors College at FIU in 2016. With a newfound vigor, I hit the ground running and spent several years educating students in the Miami-Dade County Public School System. From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for helping others, I’m a persistent optimist and I work well under stress—qualities that make me approachable to all students. As your success coach, my goal is to work together to ensure you feel you can tackle anything throughout your FIU Online journey. Outside of work, I love karaoke, reading, physical activity, documentaries, meditation, and traveling with friends and family. I love to defy expectations in all that I do, but on relaxed days, you’ll find me on a beach, in my hammock, taking a well-deserved nap.

Hi, I’m Yoana!

I have been working as an FIU Online Success Coach since December of 2019. Prior to coming aboard, I served as an Enrollment Specialist and then a Program Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami – roles which require empathy, coaching, and building relationships from trust. I am holistic in my approach to coaching and believe there is a strong connection with academics, healthy living, and mental wellness. Even within my own life, my drive and motivation comes from waking up every day hoping to be a better version of myself consistently. My goal as your Success Coach is to connect with you and foster meaningful interactions that will lead to your success – developing you to be able to handle multiple life roles – student, professional, parent, ect. Outside of my love of being a Success Coach, I enjoy playing video games, reading, writing, and learning new things, especially things that are creative outlets, like podcasting, making youtube videos, editing, etc. I have my MPA in Public Administration and a BS in Social Work and Psychology. You could see from what I studied, I have a real passion for understanding people’s needs and helping to problem solve. I can’t wait to get to know you and help you pave the way for success!
