This webpage outlines the terms and conditions for receiving SMS (text) and email messaging communications from FIU Online at Florida International University.
FIU Online uses SMS messaging to share timely promotional information with prospective and current students. These messages may include application and enrollment deadlines, event reminders, application status updates, and other relevant updates to support your admissions and academic journey. This system is separate from the one-on-one text messages you may receive from an FIU Online success or application coach. Subscribing to SMS communications is entirely optional and not required for admission or enrollment. This service is simply intended to enhance your experience with FIU Online by keeping you informed along the way.
Opt-In
Prospective students may opt in to receive email and SMS messages by completing any request for information form on FIU Online-managed websites. You may also update your email communication preferences at any time, via the “Unsubscribe” link found at the bottom of the email.Messaging Costs
Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile service provider. By opting in to SMS messages, you agree to be responsible for any charges from your wireless carrier, including text and data fees, roaming charges, or other applicable costs. Messaging frequency may vary based on your student status and interaction with FIU Online. Please contact your carrier for specific rate information.

Please note that SMS delivery is not guaranteed on all mobile carriers. Availability may vary based on your service provider.
STOP/Opt-Out Information
To stop receiving FIU Online Updates (promotional messages such as event reminders, deadlines, and general information), text STOP to 24358. To stop receiving one-on-one messages from an FIU Online application or success coach, text STOP to 305-348-3125. Each system requires a separate opt-out. If you unsubscribe from one, you may still receive messages from the other unless you opt out of both. Once unsubscribed, you will no longer receive messages from that number unless you choose to resubscribe.
You can also update your email preferences for FIU Online Updates (promotional messages such as event reminders, deadlines, and general information) at any time by visiting the email preference center, found at the bottom of each FIU Online Updates email.
Privacy Statement
Use of FIU Online’s SMS messaging service is governed by our Privacy Statement. We will never request sensitive or personally identifiable information (such as passwords or credit card details) through text messages. Please do not share such information via SMS.
Managing Your Information
You have control over your personal information. You may update your information by contacting us directly. It is your responsibility to ensure your information remains accurate and up-to-date.
Correcting Inaccurate or Incomplete Information
If you believe that any of the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request a correction. To do so, please contact the FIU Online Contact Center by calling 305-348-3125 or emailing onlineprograms@fiu.edu.
Withdrawing Consent from Marketing Communications
You may choose to stop receiving marketing communications from FIU Online at any time by contacting us with your request. To request removal from marketing and promotional outreach, you can opt out of receiving promotional communications from FIU Online at any time by following the unsubscribe link included in our messages, by indicating your preference in our communication preference center by using the unsubscribe link included in our messages, or by contacting us and specifying the communication(s) you'd like to stop receiving by calling us at 305-348-3125 or email onlineprograms@fiu.edu.
Please note: You may opt out of marketing and promotional communications and still receive transactional emails from FIU Online staff members related to your interactions with our services. These are not considered marketing communications.
Opting Out of All Communications
If you wish to be removed entirely from FIU Online’s communications and lead database, please contact us to request the deletion of your information by calling us at 305-348-3125 or emailing onlineprograms@fiu.edu.
