Marketing Research and Analysis

R. Kirk Landon Undergraduate School of Business


The certificate is designed to enhance a student’s knowledge and skills required to examine customer issues, collect appropriate market data, analyze trends and relationships, and generate actionable marketing information.  It is especially appropriate for those students who are considering careers that focus or involve marketing research and data analysis.

The certificate is open to all undergraduate degree seeking students in the university, regardless of major, as well as other individuals not currently enrolled in a degree with FIU.

Degree seeking students can earn this certificate along with their bachelor's degree -- regardless of major -- to gain a more focused and enriching program of study and become more desirable to employers.

Non-degree seeking students are also able to take this certificate in order to enhance their professional portfolio.

Having focused knowledge of a particular business area helps certificate participants be more successful when it comes to doing the "business" of their respective fields of interest.

Introduction to Marketing MAR 3023
A descriptive study emphasizing the functions and institutions common to marketing systems.

Consumer Behavior MAR4503
A study of essentials underlying consumer decisions, and relating such understanding to issues in product development/positioning, pricing, advertising, segmentation, and other marketing variables.
Prerequisites: MAR 3023 or equivalent

Marketing Research I MAR 4613
An examination of the marketing research process and its role in aiding decision-making. Emphasis is placed on evaluation and utilization of research information in making marketing decisions. 

Marketing Research II MAR 4620
This course presents students with a thorough grounding in approaches and calculations used in the field of marketing, including product mix/pricing/volume relationships, market share concepts, media math, cross tabs, and retail calculations.

Marketing Analytics (Fall, Spring) MAR 4674
A study of the metrics and systems needed to receive a return on every sales and marketing investment made. The course focuses on tools and approaches to gauge the impact of marketing expenditures.
Prerequisites: MAR 3023 or equivalent

Choose one (1) of the following:

Marketing Internship MAR 4941
Full-time supervised work in a selected marketing research organization.  
Note: This course is a pre-approved research internship only. 

Marketing Research Practicum MAR 4907L
Independent research study with a faculty member of the marketing department.

Florida Residents

Florida residents enrolled in this online certificate program pay standard university tuition ($155.61 per credit hour), a Student Financial Aid Fee ($5.16 per credit hour), as well as the Distance Learning Fee ($53.33 per credit hour). The total cost (tuition plus fees) for a 3-credit course is $642.31.

Non-Florida Residents

Non-Florida residents pay a flat rate of $333 per credit, which is $999 per 3-credit course. This special discounted tuition for this online certificate program saves non-Florida residents over $1000 per 3 credit course when compared to non-Florida resident students taking online courses outside of this program.
