This webinar will examine the differences between students who are English language learners, students who have a language disability, and how to recognize students who overlap across both of these areas. Recommendations will be provided for how to best address the needs of this increasingly vulnerable student population.
Dr. Elizabeth Cramer, Professor and Online Graduate Program Director of Special Education at FIU has been at FIU since 2002. Prior to that, she taught students with Autism in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Her current research examines the intersection of race, culture, language, and disability and its impacts on culturally and linguistically diverse families. Most of her work has focused on preparing teachers to work collaboratively with diverse learners within inclusive urban settings.
